My ETH to LTC Conversion Experience

Thinking of swapping Ethereum to Litecoin? I share my journey, the exchange rate ups & downs, and the platforms I used – from Binance to SwapSpace! Find the best way to **swap crypto**.

Today is October 31st, 2025, and I’ve been actively involved in cryptocurrency trading for about three years now. I’ve made numerous conversions between different coins, and one pairing I’ve dealt with quite a bit is Ethereum (ETH) to Litecoin (LTC). I wanted to share my experiences, what I learned, and the platforms I found most reliable. It’s a process that, while seemingly simple, requires a bit of understanding to get the best results.

Why I Converted ETH to LTC

Initially, I converted ETH to LTC primarily for faster transaction speeds. Ethereum, while powerful, can sometimes suffer from network congestion, leading to high gas fees and slow confirmation times. Litecoin, on the other hand, consistently offered quicker and cheaper transactions. I was frequently making smaller payments, and the ETH gas fees were eating into my profits. I also saw LTC as a good ‘holding’ coin – a stable alternative to fiat while I evaluated other investment opportunities.

The Exchange Rate Rollercoaster

As the information suggests, the exchange rate fluctuates. I remember back in early 2024, I did a significant conversion when 1 ETH was around 35 LTC. I thought that was a good rate at the time! However, I also saw it dip to around 38 LTC a few months later. Currently, as of today, the rate is hovering around 40.77 LTC per 1 ETH, which is a decent increase. I’ve learned not to try and time the market perfectly; instead, I focus on converting when I have a clear need for LTC and the rate is within an acceptable range.

Platforms I Used – And My Recommendations

I’ve experimented with several platforms for this conversion. Here’s a breakdown of my experiences:

Centralized Exchanges (CEXs) ⸺ Binance & Kraken

I initially used Binance and Kraken. They are straightforward. You deposit your ETH, sell it for LTC, and then withdraw the LTC. The fees are relatively low, but I found the withdrawal times could be a bit slow, especially during peak periods. I also wasn’t thrilled with the KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements. I did a conversion on Binance in March 2025, and it took almost 2 hours for the LTC to fully confirm in my wallet;

Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) — Uniswap & Sushiswap

I tried Uniswap and Sushiswap, but I found them more complex for a simple ETH to LTC swap. The gas fees on Ethereum were often higher than the value of the LTC I was converting, especially for smaller amounts. I attempted a small swap on Uniswap in June 2024, and the gas fees were almost $20! It wasn’t worth it.

SwapSpace & ChangeNOW – My Go-To Options

These aggregator platforms have become my preferred method. I found SwapSpace particularly useful. It searches across multiple exchanges to find the best rate for your conversion. I did a conversion of 0.5 ETH to LTC on SwapSpace just last week, and I received a significantly better rate than I would have on Binance or Kraken directly. The process was seamless, and the LTC arrived in my wallet within 30 minutes. ChangeNOW is also good, and I’ve used it a few times with similar positive results. The fact that they often have no limits on the amount you can swap is a huge plus.

Important Considerations

  • Fees: Always factor in the fees charged by the exchange or platform. These can vary significantly.
  • Transaction Speed: Consider how quickly you need the LTC. Litecoin transactions are generally faster than Ethereum transactions, but confirmation times can still vary.
  • Security: Use reputable platforms with strong security measures. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever possible.
  • Wallet Security: Protect your Litecoin wallet with a strong password and consider using a hardware wallet for long-term storage.
  • Exchange Rate Monitoring: Keep an eye on the ETH/LTC exchange rate. Don’t panic sell or buy based on short-term fluctuations.

My Final Thoughts

Converting ETH to LTC can be a beneficial strategy, especially if you prioritize faster transaction speeds and lower fees. I’ve learned that using aggregator platforms like SwapSpace and ChangeNOW consistently provides the best rates and a smoother experience. Remember to always do your research, prioritize security, and be mindful of the fees involved. I, Amelia Harding, have personally found this approach to be the most effective for my cryptocurrency trading needs.
